Regular Season Round 10: Gran Canaria - Distrito Olimpico 87-56

LF2 top team - Gran Canaria (10-0) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed eighth ranked Distrito Olimpico (4-6) in Las Palmas 87-56. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Distrito Olimpico. The game without a history. Gran Canaria led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Distrito Olimpico's 24. They outrebounded Distrito Olimpico 48-23 including a 35-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a very good performance for forward Maria Royo (178-86) who helped to win the game recording 19 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. American guard Erica Covile (185, college: Temple) contributed with 20 points and 9 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners. Gran Canaria's coach Maikel Lopez felt very confident using entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Center Daira Varas (193-89) replied with 12 points and 6 rebounds and swingman Maria-Jose Bolonio (180-85) added 14 points in the effort for Distrito Olimpico. Gran Canaria have an impressive ten-game winning streak. They maintain first position in Group B with 10-0 record. Loser Distrito Olimpico dropped to the ninth place with six games lost. Gran Canaria will face CVCD Granada (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Distrito Olimpico will play against Valencia and hope to win that game.
