Regular Season Round 4: Liepajas Pap. - Gorizont 65-47

Bottom-ranked Belarusian Gorizont (0-4) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 65-47 loss to fourth ranked Latvian Vega 1 (2-2) in Liepaja on Saturday evening. Guard Ilze Jakobsone (168-94) scored 8 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners and guard Sabine Lipe (176-99) chipped in 7 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was Russian center Anna Nuzhnaya (194-92) with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds and guard Volha Ziuzkova (171-83) scored 5 points and 11 rebounds. Despite that victory Vega 1 went down to eighth position due to points difference, which they share with Kibirkstis and Bornova. Loser Gorizont still closes the standings with four games lost. They share the position with Royal Eagles. Vega 1 will meet bottom-ranked Royal Eagles (#16) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Gorizont will play against Kibirkstis and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
