Regular Season Round 10: Ferrol - Al-Qazeres 75-71

Not a big story in a game when 7th ranked Al-Qazeres (5-5) was defeated on the road by third ranked Universitario de Ferrol (8-2) 75-71 on Saturday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 17-14. But Al-Qazeres won second period 22-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Al-Qazeres 33-22 including 26 on the defensive glass. American swingman Alexis Prince (188-94, college: Baylor, agency: LBM Management) fired a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. International power forward Beatriz Sanchez (190-89, agency: ProDep Management) chipped in 15 points and 9 rebounds. American forward Joy Brown (180-93, college: Iona) produced 22 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and her fellow American import forward Shayla Cooper (188-95, college: Ohio St.) added 16 points respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Universitario de Ferrol have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Girona. Loser Al-Qazeres dropped to the eighth position with five games lost. They share it with Gernika. Universitario de Ferrol will meet AE Sedis (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Al-Qazeres will play against Araski and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
