Regular Season Round 13: Mitsubishi K. - Toyota A. 63-76

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Nagoya: Toyota A. (#2) and Mitsubishi K. (#5). Mitsubishi K. was defeated at home 63-76 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. The game was mostly controlled by Toyota A.. Mitsubishi K. managed to win third quarter 18-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 23-of-25 free shots (92.0 percent) during the game. Toyota A. outrebounded Mitsubishi K. 50-38 including 20 on the offensive glass. 26 personal fouls committed by Mitsubishi K. helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Moeko Nagaoka (180-93) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 6 rebounds. The former international power forward Evelyn Mawuli (180-95) contributed with 12 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Toyota A.'s coach Don Beck used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international swingman Aya Watanabe (170-92) answered with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists and international center Asako Oh (189-87) added 12 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Mitsubishi K.Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Toyota A. (11-2) have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain second place having just two points less than leader JX-Eneos S. Mitsubishi K. lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with five games lost. They share it with Fujitsu RW and Toyota B SR. Toyota A. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Mitsubishi K.'s supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face again at home their local rival from Nagoya Toyota A..
