There was no surprise in Bertrange where 9th ranked Sparta (1-9) was crushed by second ranked Musel Pikes (8-2) 76-49. Musel Pikes held Sparta to an opponent 21.9 percent shooting from the field compared to 41.8 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Sparta 39-24 including a 31-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. American power forward Bridget Yoerger (180-87, college: S.Dakota) notched a double-double by scoring 26 points and 20 rebounds to lead the effort and the other American import Natalie Bastian (173) supported her with 18 points and 6 rebounds. Musel Pikes' coach Dominic Doerr felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 20 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists (made all of her seven free throws) by American guard Breanna Bolden (180, college: Charleston, agency: LBM Management) did not help to save the game for Sparta. Forward Estelle Sand (180-97) added 6 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Musel Pikes have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 8-2 record behind leader Amicale, which they share with Contern. Sparta lost ninth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the ninth place with nine games lost. Musel Pikes' next round opponent will be Grengewald (#8) in Niederanven where they are favorite. Sparta will play on the road against T71 Dudelange and hope to win that game.
