Regular Season Round 9: Valur - Thor AK 98-83

The game between closely ranked teams ended with ninth ranked Valur's (4-5) home victory over 10th ranked Thor AK (2-7) in Reykjavik 98-83 on Sunday. They outrebounded Thor AK 49-34 including a 33-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Valur looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. It was a good game for American forward Urald King (198-90, college: SE Oklahoma) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 19 rebounds. Naturalized American guard Austin Bracey (190-90) contributed with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Five Valur players scored in double figures. Valur's coach Agust Bjorgvinsson used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American Marques Oliver (201-91, college: Delaware St.) answered with 24 points and guard Ingvi Ingvarsson (187-94) added 20 points and 4 assists in the effort for Thor AK. Valur moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Grindavik and Stjarnan. Thor AK lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the eleventh position with seven games lost. Valur will face Grindavik (#9) on the road in the next round. Thor AK will play against Thor Thorl in Thorlakshofn and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
