Regular Season Round 3: Al Shamal - Al Arabi 65-81

Al Arabi (3-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they beat Al Shamal (0-3) in Doha 81-65. Al Arabi dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Al Shamal's 36. Al Arabi forced 20 Al Shamal turnovers. It was a great evening for American swingman William Byrd (201-85, college: Ark.-Pine Bluff) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists. His fellow American import forward Nick Stover (198-93, college: S.Alabama) helped adding 26 points. Four Al Arabi players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was DR Congolese-American swingman Moses Ehambe (198-86, college: ORU) with 25 points and 6 rebounds and guard Elhag Ali Saleh (191) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds. Al Arabi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Al Rayyan.
