Regular Season Round 9: IR - Grindavik 97-90

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked IR as it allowed them to take a leadership position after previous leader's (Tindastoll) loss. IR defeated 8th ranked Grindavik in Reykjavik 97-90. IR made 19-of-25 charity shots (76.0 percent) during the game. American forward Ryan Taylor (196-92, college: Marshall) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!), 11 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winners and international point guard Matthias Sigurdarson (183-94, college: Columbus St.) chipped in 23 points and 6 assists. The best for the losing side was the former international center Sigurdur Thorsteinsson (204-88) with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds and guard Dagur Jonsson (185-95, college: St.Francis, NY) scored 22 points and 5 assists. Four Grindavik players scored in double figures. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Tindastoll. Grindavik lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh place with five games lost. They share the position with Valur and Stjarnan. Grindavik will play next round against Valur trying to get back on the winning streak. IR will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Haukar at Hafnarfjordur.
