Regular Season Round 9: Tokyo HT - Toyoda Gosei 68-71

Tokyo HT (7-1) recorded its first loss at the home court on Sunday night. Hosts were edged by fourth ranked Toyoda Gosei (4-4) 71-68. It ended at the same time the 11-game winning streak of Tokyo HT. Toyoda Gosei made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Tokyo HT turnovers. Strangely Tokyo HT outrebounded Toyoda Gosei 45-33 including a 34-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American forward Patrick Simon (203-92, college: Seattle Pacific) who had a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds. Point guard Eiji Sumihiro (171-89) chipped in 12 points and 7 assists. Four Toyoda Gosei players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Hiroya Oogane (180-89) who recorded a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds and American power forward Alex Jones (206-87, college: Seattle) added 15 points and 10 rebounds respectively. Tokyo HT's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Toyoda Gosei maintains fourth place with 4-4 record. Tokyo HT at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. Toyoda Gosei are looking forward to face Tokyo Cinq R. (#8) on the road in the next round. Tokyo HT will have a break next round.
