Regular Season Round 9: Den Helder - Rotterdam 73-76

Bottom-ranked Den Helder (0-8) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their eighth consecutive match to seventh ranked Rotterdam (4-5) 76-73 on Sunday evening. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 76-73. Rotterdam dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Den Helder's 28. Den Helder was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Chris Commons (206-84, college: USC Aiken) stepped up and scored 24 points (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) for the winners and Belgian point guard Ordane Kanda-Kanyinda (186-96) chipped in 14 points and 8 assists. The best for the losing side was American power forward Quinterian McConico (203-95, college: Alabama A&M, agency: Court Side) with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds and the other American import guard LaVonte Dority (185-91, college: Valparaiso) scored 17 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Rotterdam moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Leeuwarden. Den Helder lost their eighth game in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with eight games lost. Rotterdam will face Amsterdam (#7) on the road in the next round. Den Helder will play against Zwolle and hopes to get finally their first victory.
