Regular Season Round 14: Mitsubishi K. - Toyota A. 71-78

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Nagoya: Toyota A. (#2) and Mitsubishi K. (#5). Mitsubishi K. was defeated at home 71-78 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Mitsubishi K. trailed by 19 points after 3 quarters before a 28-16 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 71-78 at the end of the game. Guard Minaho Minamiminoru (167-93) scored 20 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international power forward Evelyn Mawuli (180-95) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) during the contest. Toyota A.'s coach Don Beck used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international swingman Aya Watanabe (170-92) responded with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists and international forward Nemoto Yo (173-95) scored 14 points. Toyota A. (12-2) have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain second position having just two points less than leader JX-Eneos S. Mitsubishi K. lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth place with six games lost. They share the position with Toyota B SR. Toyota A. are looking forward to face league's leader JX-Eneos S. in Kashiwa in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Mitsubishi K. will play at home against Chanson V-M (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
