Regular Season Round 15: Toyama Grouses - Shiga L-Stars 69-67

A very interesting game took place in Toyama. It ended with only two-point defeat on the road of second-best Shiga L-Stars (9-10) to fourth ranked Toyama Grouses (8-11) 69-67 in the fight for the second place. It was a key game for the second position in the league. It was a good game for American Drew Viney (204-88, college: Loyola Mary) who led his team to a victory with 19 points. International forward Naoki Uto (188-91) contributed with 12 points and 7 assists for the winners. Toyama Grouses' coach Miodrag Rajkovic allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Egyptian-American center Omar Samhan (211-88, college: St.Mary's, CA) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and American-Israeli center DOr Fischer (211-81, college: W.Virginia) added 14 points and 7 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) in the effort for Shiga L-Stars. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Toyama Grouses moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. Shiga L-Stars at the other side dropped to the third position with ten games lost. Toyama Grouses' next round opponent will be San-en NeoPhoenix (#3) in Hamamatsu, which may be the game of the day. Shiga L-Stars will play at home against the league's leader Ryukyu GK and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
