Regular Season Round 8: Hapoel Eilat - Maccabi Haifa 81-86

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked Maccabi Haifa and 10th ranked Hapoel Eilat had identical 2-5 record. But Hapoel Eilat was not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Haifa 86-81 on Monday night. Hapoel Eilat trailed by 14 points after 3 quarters before a 30-21 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 81-86 at the end of the game. Worth to mention a great performance of Puerto Rican point guard Angel Rodriguez (180-92, college: Miami, FL) who helped to win the game recording 28 points and 5 steals and naturalized American Willy Workman (198-90, college: Amherst) who added 15 points during the contest. Maccabi Haifa's coach Offer Rahimi allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American forward Demetrius Treadwell (201-91, college: Akron) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists and American-Puerto Rican Michael Rosario (190-90, college: Florida) scored 27 points (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Maccabi Haifa (3-5) moved-up to eighth place. Loser Hapoel Eilat dropped to the ninth position with six games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Maccabi Haifa will meet at home Bnei Hasharon (#9) in the next round. Hapoel Eilat will play against Maccabi Rishon in Rishon Le-Zion and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
