Regular Season Round 12: Sichuan BW - Qingdao E. 104-107

Everything could happen in Sichuan at the game between two tied teams. Both seventeenth ranked Eagles and 18th ranked Blue Whales had identical 2-9 record. But Blue Whales were not able to use a home court advantage and were edged by the opponent from Qingdao 107-104 on Tuesday night. Eagles forced 25 Blue Whales turnovers. It was a good game for American point guard Jonathan Gibson (188-87, college: N.Mexico St.) who led his team to a victory with 40 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Polish-Swedish power forward Maciej Lampe (211-85) contributed with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. American Jamaal Franklin (196-91, college: San Diego St., agency: Slash Sports) replied with 37 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds and Iranian center Hamed Haddadi (218-85) added 15 points, 20 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 blocks in the effort for Blue Whales. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Eagles (3-9) moved-up to fifteenth place, which they share with Shanxi BD and Jilin NE T. Blue Whales lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eighteenth position with ten games lost. Eagles will face higher ranked Xinjiang Flying Tige (#8) in Urumqi in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Blue Whales will play on the road against Gold Lions (#19) in Tianjin and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
