Regular Season Round 8: Al Riyadi - Byblos 106-79

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Al Riyadi as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Al Riyadi smashed 8th ranked Byblos in Beirut 106-79. Al Riyadi made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 58.3 percentage. Al Riyadi looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Byblos' players. The former international point guard Wael Arakji (194-94) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 6 rebounds and 14 assists. American guard Quincy Douby (190-84, college: Rutgers) contributed with 22 points and 4 assists for the winners. American swingman SirDominic Pointer (198-92, college: St.John's) replied with 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and his fellow American import forward Kammeon Holsey (203-90, college: Georgia Tech) added 17 points in the effort for Byblos. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Al Riyadi have a solid three-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Homenetmen. Byblos lost seventh consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth place with seven games lost. Byblos will play next round against CS Antonins trying to get back on the winning streak. Al Riyadi will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Homenetmen. It will be extra interesting game as Homenetmen is their local rival from Beirut.
