Regular Season Round 7: Pinheiros - Paulistano 81-65

NBB top team - Pinheiros (6-0) had no problems winning another game on Wednesday. This time they beat tenth ranked Paulistano (3-3) in Sao Paulo 81-65. They outrebounded Paulistano 49-29 including a 37-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a quality performance for American guard Cordero Bennett (188-88) who led the winners and scored 19 points and 9 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Desmond Holloway (191-90, college: Co.Carolina) accounted for 15 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side. The former international Jhonatan Luz-dos-Santos (196-87) came up with 8 points and 10 rebounds and American-Peruvian point guard Kyle Fuller (185-92, college: Vanderbilt) added 15 points respectively for Paulistano in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Pinheiros. They maintain first place with 6-0 record. Loser Paulistano dropped to the eighth position with three games lost. Pinheiros will meet at home Paschoalotto/Bauru (#7) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Paulistano will play against Universo/Vitoria and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
