Regular Season Round 8: Istanbul Univ. - Play Off 48-90

Bottom-ranked Turkish Istanbul Uni is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their eighth consecutive match to fourth ranked Bosnian Play Off (4-4) 90-48 on Wednesday evening. Play Off dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Istanbul Uni's 24 and made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. Play Off forced 20 Istanbul Uni turnovers and outrebounded them 49-22 including a 38-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Play Off looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Istanbul Uni's players. The winners were led by Jovana Markovic (186-97, agency: BeoBasket) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 20 points and 21 rebounds and point guard Miljana Dzombeta (169-94) supported her with 11 points, 7 assists and 4 steals. Five Play Off players scored in double figures. Play Off's coach felt very confident using entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Even a double-double of 14 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals by Akalan Sevval did not help to save the game for Istanbul Uni. Forward Merve Buyukbayrak (-1) added 20 points for the hosts. Defending Bosnian champion moved-up to third place in A, which they share with Tresnjevka. Istanbul Uni at the other side still closes the standings with eight games lost. Play Off will meet at home Beroe (#5) in the next round. Istanbul Uni will play against Tresnjevka and hopes to get finally their first victory.
