Regular Season Round 12: Haukar - Breidablik 87-69

The most important game in the last round took place in Hafnarfjordur between third ranked Breidablik (6-6) and sixth ranked Haukar (7-5) on Wednesday night. Breidablik was defeated by Haukar on the road 87-69. Haukar dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Breidablik's 34. Haukar forced 21 Breidablik turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international swingman Helena Sverrisdottir (184-88, college: TCU) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 22 rebounds. American guard Cherise Daniel (180-87, college: Ohio St.) chipped in 15 points, 7 assists and 4 steals. Five Haukar players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Ivory Crawford (178-92, college: Illinois) who recorded a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds and center Sollilja Bjarnadottir (171-95) added 17 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Haukar moved-up to third place, which they share with Stjarnan. Newly promoted Breidablik dropped to the fifth position with six games lost. They share it with Skallagrimur. Haukar is looking forward to face league's second-placed Keflavik on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Breidablik will play against Njardvik and is hoping to win this game.
