Regular Season Round 6: Marburg - SBS Ostrava 89-42

An exciting game was played in Marburg. Third ranked German BC Pharmaserv Marburg faced 4th ranked Czech SBS Ostrava. Host BC Pharmaserv Marburg (2-1) smashed guests from Ostrava (0-3) 89-42. BC Pharmaserv Marburg held SBS Ostrava to an opponent 25.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 47.4 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded SBS Ostrava 52-34 including a 41-27 advantage in defensive rebounds. BC Pharmaserv Marburg players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by SBS Ostrava's players. It was a good game for Bulgarian power forward Diana Voynova (192-88, college: Duquesne) who led her team to a victory with 18 points and 6 rebounds. American guard Tonisha Baker (173-90, college: Campbell) contributed with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American guard Antoinette Thompson (170-90, college: TCU) replied with 10 points and 6 rebounds and center Klara Vojtikova (190-94) added 12 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for SBS Ostrava. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. BC Pharmaserv Marburg moved-up to second place in Group B. SBS Ostrava at the other side still closes the standings with three games lost. BC Pharmaserv Marburg will play against league's leader Satu Mare on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. SBS Ostrava will have a break next round.
