Regular Season Round 10: Haukar - IR 97-87

There was a change at the Dominos League leadership position after last games. Round 10 most important game was a defeat of league's leader IR (7-3). They were defeated by third ranked Haukar (7-3) 97-87 on Thursday night. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of IR. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Haukar had a 31-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. International guard Kari Jonsson (190-97, college: Drexel) scored 29 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and American forward Paul Jones (198-89, college: W.Washington) chipped in 23 points and 7 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) during the contest. At the losing side American forward Ryan Taylor (196-92, college: Marshall) responded with a double-double by scoring 30 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and international point guard Matthias Sigurdarson (183-94, college: Columbus St.) scored 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Haukar have an impressive five-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated IR. IR will play next round against Keflavik trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Haukar will try to continue on its current victory against tenth ranked Valur in Reykjavik.
