There was a surprise result when eleventh ranked LTC Sangiorg. (5-7) defeated higher ranked Omnia Basket (8-4) in San Giorgio 79-75 on Thursday. LTC Sangiorg. made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. LTC Sangiorg. outrebounded Omnia Basket 46-32 including 39 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for forward Luca Antonietti (197-94, agency: Octagon Europe) who led his team to a victory with 18 points and 7 rebounds. Forward Giovanni Lenti (200-96) contributed with 14 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Five LTC Sangiorg. players scored in double figures. LTC Sangiorg.'s coach Daniele Quilici allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The former international point guard Fabio Di-Bella (185-78) replied with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Matteo Samoggia (200-90) added 19 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Omnia Basket. LTC Sangiorg. moved-up to tenth place in B, which they share with Desio and Bernareggio. Newly promoted Omnia Basket dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. LTC Sangiorg. will face Libertas (#16) in Livorno in the next round where they are favorite. Omnia Basket will play at home against the league's leader Omegna (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
