Regular Season Round 6: Flying Foxes - Zabiny Brno 66-85

The biggest surprise of round 6 in Central Europe Women League was Czech guest Zabiny Brno's (#3) easy road victory over Austrian Flying Foxes (#4) 85-66 on Thursday evening. They outrebounded Flying Foxes 39-28 including a 31-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Zabiny Brno especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Whitney Bays (188-92, college: Purdue) who scored 18 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Jana Hausknechtova (180-92) chipped in 6 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists. Four Zabiny Brno players scored in double figures. Zabiny Brno's coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Samantha Logic (175-92, college: Iowa, agency: LBM Management) who recorded a double-double by scoring 14 points, 5 rebounds, 11 assists and 5 steals and her fellow American import forward Nina Davis (180-94, college: Baylor, agency: LBM Management) added 18 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Zabiny Brno maintains third position in Group A with 2-3 record having just one point less than leader Olimpia Brasov. Defending Austrian champion Flying Foxes stay at the bottom place with four games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
