Regular Season Round 16: Shiga L-Stars - Ryukyu GK 63-83

There was no surprise when one of their biggest challengers Shiga L-Stars (9-12) were crushed at home by first ranked Ryukyu GK (16-5) 83-63 on Friday. Ryukyu GK made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American forward Hassan Martin (201-95, college: Rhode Island) fired a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners. International forward Ira Brown (193-82, college: Gonzaga) chipped in 9 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Center Samba Faye (205-87) produced 14 points and 8 rebounds and Egyptian-American center Omar Samhan (211-88, college: St.Mary's, CA) added 8 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Ryukyu GK have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 16-5 record. Shiga L-Stars lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the second place with 12 games lost. Ryukyu GK will face Nishinomiya S. (#5) in Hyogo in the next round. Shiga L-Stars will play at home against Hokkaido L. and hope to win that game.
