Everything went according to plan in Kanagawa where first ranked Aishin Sea Horses (18-3) won against one of their biggest challengers Toshiba Thunders (12-9) 104-99 on Friday. Aishin Sea Horses shot 64.6 percent from the field. It was a great shooting night for Aishin Sea Horses especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.9 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The former international center JR Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) fired 25 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners. The former international swingman Makoto Hiejima (190-90) chipped in 23 points. Aishin Sea Horses' coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The former international swingman Naoto Tsuji (185-89) produced 26 points and 7 assists and American power forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) added 25 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Five Aishin Sea Horses and four Toshiba Thunders players scored in double figures. Aishin Sea Horses maintains first position with 18-3 record. Toshiba Thunders lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the second place with nine games lost. Aishin Sea Horses will face Niigata Albirex (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Toshiba Thunders will play against the league's second-placed Chiba Jets and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
