Regular Season Round 13: IA - Gnupverjar 76-100

Bottom-ranked IA (0-10) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 100-76 loss to seventh ranked Gnupverjar (3-8) in Akranes on Friday evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to IA's 28. They outrebounded IA 48-28 including a 33-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. American guard Everage Richardson (191-85, college: Co.Carolina) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 43 points (!!!), 18 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals for the winners and forward Atli Gunnarsson (197-85) chipped in 24 points and 7 rebounds. At the losing side American point guard Marcus Dewberry (183, college: St.Leo, agency: Aspire Sports) responded with 38 points (!!!), 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 6 steals and Andri Jokulsson scored 15 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Gnupverjar maintains seventh place with 3-8 record. IA lost their tenth game in a row. They still close the standings with ten games lost. Gnupverjar will meet at home FSU (#8) in the next round. IA will play against the league's leader Skallagrimur having rather not much hope for a victory.
