Regular Season Round 21: Tokyo Z - Sendai 89ers 67-86

There was no surprise when 6th ranked Tokyo Z (8-13) was outplayed at home by third ranked Sendai 89ers (10-11) 86-67 on Friday. Sendai 89ers outrebounded Tokyo Z 46-33 including 34 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Tokyo Z's players. Tokyo Z was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. South Sudanese-American forward Angelo Chol (206-93, college: San Diego St., agency: Two Points) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and guard Ryunosuke Yanagawa (187-91) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Latvian center Ricmonds Vilde (211-90, college: Houston Baptist) with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 13 rebounds and guard Satoshi Kawai (182-82) scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Sendai 89ers have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain third place with 10-11 record having just two points less than leader Akita NH. Loser Tokyo Z dropped to the fifth position with 13 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
