Regular Season Round 8: Champville - Beirut Club 75-92

Very important is a home loss of third ranked Champville (6-2) against fifth ranked Beirut Club (5-3) on Friday night. Host Champville was defeated by Beirut Club in Dik El Mehdi 92-75. Beirut Club outrebounded Champville 50-37 including 16 on the offensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Bassel Bawji (203-89, college: Tulsa) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 29 points, 15 rebounds and 4 blocks and American guard Chris Crawford (193-92, college: Memphis) who added 24 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists during the contest. The former international forward Fadi El-Khatib (198-79) responded with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 12 rebounds (was perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line !!!) and American swingman Devin Green (201-82, college: Hampton) scored 16 points and 8 rebounds. Champville's coach Ghassan Sarkis rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Beirut Club have an impressive five-game winning streak. Newly promoted Beirut Club maintains fifth position with 5-3 record. Champville at the other side keeps the third place with two games lost. They share the position with Sagesse. Beirut Club will play against Al Moutahed (#6) in Tripoli in the next round. Champville will play on the road against Sagesse in Beirut and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
