Regular Season Round 16: Kouvot - BC Nokia 83-79

No shocking result in a game in Kouvola where second ranked Kouvot (11-5) defeated 8th ranked BC Nokia (6-9) 83-79. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. BC Nokia was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Kouvot shot 28 for 38 from the free-throw line, while BC Nokia only scored five points from the stripe. BC Nokia was plagued by 32 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for the former international Ville Kaunisto (204-82, agency: Court Side) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points and 13 rebounds. American guard Wayne Bernard (190-81, college: Davidson) contributed with 22 points for the winners. Four Kouvot players scored in double figures. Serbian power forward Dragan Labovic (207-87, agency: Alti Sport) replied with 26 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and American point guard Vincent Council (186-90, college: Providence) added 20 points and 9 assists in the effort for BC Nokia. Kouvot have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 11-5 record behind leader Salon Vilpas. BC Nokia lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with nine games lost. Kouvot will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. BC Nokia will play on the road against Lapuan Korikobrat (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
