Regular Season Round 16: Shiga L-Stars - Ryukyu GK 82-87

There was no surprise when one of their biggest challengers Shiga L-Stars (9-12) were defeated at home by first ranked Ryukyu GK (16-5) 87-82 on Saturday. Ryukyu GK looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. Shiga L-Stars were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Hassan Martin (201-95, college: Rhode Island) fired 33 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) for the winners. The former international point guard Takumi Ishizaki (188-84) chipped in 9 points and 8 assists. Guard Narito Namizato (172-89) produced 17 points and 9 assists and Egyptian-American center Omar Samhan (211-88, college: St.Mary's, CA) added 14 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Shiga L-Stars' coach Shawn Dennis rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Ryukyu GK have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 16-5 record. Shiga L-Stars lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the second place with 12 games lost. Ryukyu GK will face Nishinomiya S. (#5) in Hyogo in the next round. Shiga L-Stars will play at home against Hokkaido L. and hope to win that game.
