Important game to mention about took place in Vilagarcia Arousa. Fourth ranked Cortegada (8-3) saved a 2-point victory at home edging 7th ranked Maquinaria Ensino (6-6) 62-60 on Saturday evening. Maquinaria Ensino cut a 14-point halftime deficit to two at the end of the game. They outrebounded Maquinaria Ensino 48-31 including a 34-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for Senegalese center Amy Syll (196-93, agency: ProDep Management) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 21 rebounds and 4 blocks. Swingman Salome Garcia (175-92, agency: ProDep Management) accounted for 10 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Guard Regina Gomez (173-82, agency: ProDep Management) came up with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and Esther Castedo added 12 points respectively for Maquinaria Ensino in the defeat. Maquinaria Ensino's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Cortegada have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to third place in Group A, which they share with Barca CBS. Maquinaria Ensino at the other side dropped to the eighth position with six games lost. Cortegada will play against Arxil Pontevedra (#9) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Maquinaria Ensino will play against Ascensores Tresa and hopes to get back on the winning track.
