Regular Season Round 10: Tokyo Cinq R. - Toyoda Gosei 59-103

The game in Tokyo supposed to be also quite interesting. Fifth ranked Toyoda Gosei (6-4) played at the court of 8th ranked Tokyo Cinq R. (2-8). Toyoda Gosei smashed Tokyo Cinq R. 103-59 on Saturday. Toyoda Gosei dominated down low during the game scoring 80 of its points in the paint compared to Tokyo Cinq R.'s 28. Toyoda Gosei forced 21 Tokyo Cinq R. turnovers and outrebounded them 38-25 including 24 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a very good performance for American forward Patrick Simon (203-92, college: Seattle Pacific) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points and 15 rebounds (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field). Guard Kenshiro Fujita (190-92) contributed with 20 points and 4 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners. Five Toyoda Gosei players scored in double figures. American forward Drew Martin (203-94, college: Concordia, OR) replied with 12 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Naoto Ito (168-94) added 9 points in the effort for Tokyo Cinq R.Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Toyoda Gosei have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place. Loser Tokyo Cinq R. keeps the eighth position with eight games lost. Toyoda Gosei will face higher ranked Otsuka A. (#3) in Tokyo in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Tokyo Cinq R. will play on the road against Aisin AW (#6) in Aichi and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
