Important game to mention about took place in Salta. Penarol (1-2) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging Salta Basket (0-2) 79-77 on Saturday evening. Salta Basket was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American forward Steffphon Pettigrew (196-89, college: W.Kentucky, agency: HMS) who scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. The former international center Martin Leiva (211-80) chipped in 11 points and 8 rebounds. Four Penarol players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Ricky Harris (187-87, college: Massachusetts) who recorded 27 points and 4 assists and the former international point guard Diego Gerbaudo (178-89) added 11 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists respectively. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Penarol will face Olimpico de La Banda (#14) at home in the next round. Salta Basket will play against Ferrocarril (#5) in Buenos Aires and hopes to get finally their first victory.
