Regular Season Round 11: Adareva - Leganes 43-49

Very predictable result in Laguna where second ranked Leganes (8-3) defeated 12th ranked Adareva (2-9) 49-43 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Adareva won third quarter 7-4. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Leganes dominated on the defensive end, holding Adareva to just 7 points in third quarter. They also forced 19 Adareva turnovers. It was a great evening for Icelandic forward Hildur Kjartansdottir (188-94, college: UTRGV, agency: ProDep Management) who led her team to a victory scoring 11 points and 6 rebounds. Swingman Maria Espin (180-89) helped adding 8 points and 8 rebounds. Leganes' coach Nacho Garcia used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward Eva Serra (183-83) responded with 17 points and 8 rebounds and American forward TyDesheaia Pool (185, college: SE Louisiana) scored 8 points and 11 rebounds. Leganes maintains second place in Group B with 8-3 record having just three points less than leader Gran Canaria, which they share with Adelantados. Adareva lost their third game in a row. They keep the twelfth position with nine games lost. Leganes will face Distrito Olimpico (#10) in Madrid in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Adareva will play on the road against Promete in Logrono and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
