Regular Season Round 9: Homenetmen - Al Riyadi 92-84

There was a change at the Pepsi LBL leadership position after last games. Round 9 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Al Riyadi (7-2). They were defeated by second ranked Homenetmen (8-1) 92-84 on Saturday night. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Al Riyadi. It was a key game for the top position in the league. U.S. Virgin Islands-Puerto Rican point guard Walter Hodge (183-86, college: Florida) stepped up and scored 29 points and 8 assists for the winners and American swingman Sam Young (198-85, college: Pittsburgh) chipped in 27 points. The best for the losing side was American guard Quincy Douby (190-84, college: Rutgers) with 30 points and 6 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and the former international point guard Wael Arakji (194-94) scored 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Homenetmen have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader. Defending champion Al Riyadi dropped to the second place with two games lost. They share the position with Champville. They were replaced at the leadership position by Homenetmen. Al Riyadi will play next round against CS Antonins trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Homenetmen will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Beirut Club. It will be extra interesting game as Beirut Club is their local rival from Beirut.
