Regular Season Round 11: Ascensores Tresa - RC Celta 75-76

Eleventh-ranked Ascensores Tresa (4-7) gave a tough game to first ranked Real Celta Vigo (10-1) in Gijon on Saturday. The visitors from Vigo managed to secure only one-point victory 76-75. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Ascensores Tresa. Real Celta Vigo dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Ascensores Tresa's 38. Real Celta Vigo forced 22 Ascensores Tresa turnovers. Strangely Ascensores Tresa outrebounded Real Celta Vigo 43-29 including a 17-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for power forward Itziar German (184-86, agency: ProDep Management) who led her team to a victory scoring 26 points and 6 rebounds (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field). American-Nigerian guard Sarah Ogoke (178-90, college: So.Poly State) helped adding 15 points and 5 rebounds. American forward Riley Nordgaard (178-93, college: Montana St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds and Argentinian Isabella Sangali produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Real Celta Vigo maintains first place in Group A with 10-1 record. Newly promoted Ascensores Tresa keeps the eleventh position with seven games lost. They share it with Rioja. Real Celta Vigo are looking forward to face Segle XXI (#13) in Barcelona in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Ascensores Tresa will play on the road against Maquinaria Ensino in Lugo and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
