Regular Season Round 11: CVCD Granada - Gran Canaria 66-84

LF2 top team - Gran Canaria (11-0) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they beat ninth ranked CVCD Granada (4-7) 84-66. The game was mostly controlled by Gran Canaria. CVCD Granada managed to win third quarter 25-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gran Canaria made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American guard Erica Covile (185, college: Temple) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds. Her fellow American import point guard Starr Breedlove (168-93, college: UTEP) chipped in 22 points and 4 assists. Four Gran Canaria players scored in double figures. Rebeca Rodriguez produced 18 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Maria Cerqueira added 11 points respectively for the hosts. The victory was the eleventh consecutive win for Gran Canaria. They maintain first place in Group B with 11-0 record. Newly promoted CVCD Granada keeps the ninth position with seven games lost. They share it with Distrito Olimpico. Gran Canaria will meet at home Picken Claret (#7) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. CVCD Granada will play against Valencia and hope to secure a win.
