Very important is a road loss of third ranked Mineros (11-7) against fourth ranked Capitanes (10-6) on Saturday night. Visiting Mineros were defeated by Capitanes in a tough game in Mexico 80-85. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Mineros. Capitanes dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Mineros' 40. They outrebounded Mineros 39-25 including 30 on the defensive glass. The former international Hector Hernandez (205-85, college: Fresno St., agency: BeoBasket) notched 17 points and 9 rebounds to lead the effort and American-Puerto Rican forward Emmanuel Andujar (198-93, college: Manhattan) supported him with 16 points and 6 rebounds. Five Capitanes players scored in double figures. Even 20 points by American guard Eric McClellan (193-93, college: Gonzaga, agency: KMG Sports Management) did not help to save the game for Mineros. The former international center Isaac Gutierrez (204-84) added 17 points and 7 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Mineros' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted Capitanes maintains fourth position with 10-6 record, which they share with Correcaminos. Mineros at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keep the third place with seven games lost. Capitanes will play against Correcaminos (#5) in Ciudad Victoria in the next round. Mineros will play at home against the league's second-placed Soles and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
