Regular Season Round 8: Quimper - Rouen 87-90

A very interesting game took place in Quimper. It ended with only three-point home defeat of 14th ranked Quimper UJAP (2-6) to tenth ranked SPO Rouen (4-4) 90-87 on Saturday evening. Quimper UJAP was ahead by 9 points after three quarters before a 34-22 charge of SPO Rouen, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was American Desmond Williams (199-91, college: S.Connecticut) who scored 25 points and 5 rebounds. The other American import Amin Stevens (203-90, college: Florida A&M) chipped in 13 points and 6 rebounds. Kevin Mondesir (204-91) produced 19 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and Paul-Lou Duwiquet (195-95) added 13 points and 6 assists respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Quimper UJAP's coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. SPO Rouen have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Fos-Provence. Quimper UJAP lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the fourteenth position with six games lost. SPO Rouen's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Charleville-Mezieres (#18) on the road and are hoping to win another game. Quimper UJAP will play against Sluc Nancy (#4) and hope to win that game.
