Regular Season Round 12: Strasbourg - Cholet 88-54
Date: December 9, 2017
No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked SIG Strasbourg (7-5) smashed at home 14th ranked Cholet Basket (5-7) 88-54 on Saturday. The game without a history. SIG Strasbourg led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Cholet Basket's 30. SIG Strasbourg had a 33-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was international power forward Louis Labeyrie (208-92) who scored 20 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Croatian center Miro Bilan (213-89, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American power forward Yancy Gates (206-89, college: Cincinnati) who recorded 13 points and Icelandic Haukur Palsson (197-92, college: Maryland) added 7 points and 4 assists respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. SIG Strasbourg moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Cholet Basket dropped to the twelfth position with seven games lost. SIG Strasbourg will face Le Portel (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Cholet Basket will play against Gravelines-Dunkerque and hope to win that game.
