Very important is a road loss of second ranked Obera TC (6-6) against sixth ranked Independiente (5-8) on Saturday night. Visiting Obera TC was crushed by Independiente in Santiago del Estero 86-63. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Obera TC. Independiente dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Obera TC's 36. They outrebounded Obera TC 45-30 including a 34-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Obera TC was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Bakari Copeland (198-95, college: Md-E Shore) notched 23 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the effort and the other American import power forward Willie Readus (201-92, college: Delta St.) supported him with 9 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. Even 16 points by swingman Sergio Rupil (188-94, college: Harcum CC) did not help to save the game for Obera TC. Power forward Fernando Calvi (200-81) added 8 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Independiente moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Mitre Tuc. Obera TC at the other side keeps the second position with six games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Independiente will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Obera TC will play on the road against Talleres TV in Tafi Viejo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
