Regular Season Round 11: Gipuzkoa GBC - Andorra 60-64

Everything could happen in San Sebastian at the game between two tied teams. Both twelfth ranked Andorra and 13th ranked Gipuzkoa had identical 4-6 record. But Gipuzkoa was not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Andorra 64-60 on Saturday night. The guests trailed by 6 points after three quarters before their 23-13 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Andorra forced 21 Gipuzkoa turnovers. Strangely Gipuzkoa outrebounded Andorra 45-33 including 30 on the defensive glass. Gipuzkoa was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for Slovenian Jaka Blazic (196-90) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds. International point guard Jaime Fernandez (186-93) helped adding 12 points and 4 assists. Four Andorra players scored in double figures. Dutch center Henk Norel (213-87) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds and British power forward Daniel Clark (210-88) scored 10 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Andorra (5-6) moved-up to tenth place, which they share with UCAM Murcia. Newly promoted Gipuzkoa keeps the thirteenth position with seven games lost. Andorra will face higher ranked Baskonia (#7) in Vitoria in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Gipuzkoa will play on the road against Valencia Basket (#4) and hope to win that game.
