Regular Season Round 14: Qingdao E. - Bayi R. 107-83

Bottom-ranked Bayi Rockets (0-14) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 107-83 loss to eighteenth ranked Eagles (4-10) in Qingdao on Saturday evening. They made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. Eagles had a 33-22 advantage in offensive rebounds. American point guard Jonathan Gibson (188-87, college: N.Mexico St.) scored 30 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and center Jia-Fu Tian (208-91) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. International guard Lei Meng (193-95) responded with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and international center Hao Fu (206-97) scored 15 points and 8 rebounds. Five Eagles and four Bayi Rockets players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Eagles moved-up to fifteenth place, which they share with Shanxi BD. Loser Bayi Rockets still closes the standings with 14 games lost. Eagles will meet at home higher ranked Zhejiang Guangsha Lions (#4) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Bayi Rockets will play against Gold Lions (#17) and hope to get finally their first victory.
