Regular Season Round 11: Alghero - Savonese 54-75

Not a big story in a game when 13th ranked Alghero (1-9) was outscored at home by tenth ranked Savonese (4-6) 75-54 on Saturday. Savonese made 25-of-29 free shots (86.2 percent) during the game, while Alghero only scored seven points from the stripe. They outrebounded Alghero 36-20 including 25 on the defensive glass. Center Faidra Skiadopoulou (192-90) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 17 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 blocks. Irene Tosi (185-97) contributed with 18 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Savonese's coach Vito Pollari felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Point guard Sara Azzellini (170-86) answered with 14 points and Arianna Beretta (178-96, agency: SPORTlab Agency) added 11 points in the effort for Alghero. Newly promoted Savonese maintains tenth place in A2 with 4-6 record. Loser Alghero keeps the thirteenth position with nine games lost. Savonese will face Forli (#15) at home in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Alghero will play against Civitanova in Civitanova Marche and hope to win that game.
