Regular Season Round 13: Asker - Gimle Pride 56-64

An exciting game was played in Rykkinn. Second ranked Gimle Pride faced 3rd placed Asker. Guests from Bergen (7-4) defeated host Asker (6-3) 64-56. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 16-5. But Asker won third quarter 24-6. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Gimle Pride won last quarter 21-14. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Asker to just 5 points in first quarter. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Birte Hegrenaes (177-88) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 7 rebounds. Guard Ingeborg Gjengsto (165-94) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Guard Julie Skorpen (165-99) answered with 26 points and 4 assists and forward Ingrid Selvik (178-92) added 5 points and 23 rebounds in the effort for Asker. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Gimle Pride. Despite that victory Gimle Pride went down to third position due to points difference. Asker at the other side dropped to the fourth place with three games lost. Gimle Pride will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Asker will play on the road against the league's second-placed Hoybraten (#2) in Oslo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
