Regular Season Round 11: HNMKY U23 - JyWe 109-63

The game between closely ranked teams ended with fourth ranked HNMKY U23's (8-3) home victory over 5th ranked JyWe (6-5) 109-63 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 9-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 109-63. HNMKY U23 dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to JyWe's 28. HNMKY U23 forced 23 JyWe turnovers and outrebounded them 45-34 including 32 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by JyWe's players. The best player for the winners was point guard Sakari Laakso (194-97) who scored 21 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. Guard Jyri Eboreime (185-98) chipped in 12 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Five HNMKY U23 players scored in double figures. HNMKY U23's coach Juuso Milen felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Aleksi Kantonen (188-95) produced 8 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists and Bahamas forward Winslo Barry (208-90, college: Incarnate Word) added 11 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. HNMKY U23 maintains fourth place in Division with 8-3 record. Loser JyWe keeps the fifth position with five games lost. HNMKY U23 will face league's leader Loimaan Korikonkarit at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. JyWe will play against Aalto-Basket (#11) in Espoo and hope to win that game.
