Regular Season Round 5: Al Sadd - Al Shamal 100-81

Bottom-ranked Al Shamal (0-5) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 100-81 loss to fourth ranked Al Sadd (3-2) in Doha. Strangely Al Shamal outrebounded Al Sadd 42-30 including 20 on the offensive glass. They shot the lights out from three nailing 13 long-distance shots on high 52.0 percentage. Al Sadd players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. American-Albanian forward Mike Moser (203-90, college: Oregon) nailed 25 points and 7 assists for the winning side and American guard Dee Oldham (193-94, college: Chattanooga) accounted for 24 points and 9 rebounds. French center Alioune Tew (206-92, college: Niagara) came up with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 16 rebounds and 4 blocks and guard Elhag-Ali Saleh (191) added 20 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Al Shamal in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Al Sadd maintains fourth place with 3-2 record. Al Shamal at the other side still closes the standings with five games lost. Al Sadd's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha Al Rayyan.
