Regular Season Round 11: Adelantados - Magec Tias 70-47

No shocking result in a game in San Cristobal where fourth ranked Adelantados (8-3) outleveled 8th ranked Magec Tias (5-6) 70-47 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 8-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 70-47. Adelantados dominated on the defensive end, holding Magec Tias to just 7 points in fourth quarter. They outrebounded Magec Tias 40-28 including 28 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for American forward Caira Washington (188-95, college: G.Washington) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds. Guard Patricia Benet (170-88) helped adding 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Adelantados players scored in double figures. Adelantados' coach Claudo Garcia felt very confident using 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Argentinian power forward Ornella Santana (183-90) responded with 12 points and 9 rebounds and American guard Keira Robinson (173, college: VCU) scored 14 points. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Adelantados. They moved-up to second place in Group B, which they share with Leganes. Newly promoted Magec Tias keeps the eighth position with six games lost. Adelantados will face Almeria (#13) on the road in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Magec Tias will play against Alcobendas (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
