Regular Season Round 22: Kanazawa Sam. - Toyotsu FE 85-62

The game between Top Four teams took place in Ishikawa. Second ranked host Kanazawa Sam. (12-9) smashed top-ranked Toyotsu FE (13-8) 85-62. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Toyotsu FE. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. They outrebounded Toyotsu FE 39-23 including 27 on the defensive glass. Kanazawa Sam. players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. American forward Josh Hawkinson (208-95, college: Washington St.) replied with 21 points and 7 rebounds and Masahiro Narita (185-94) added 6 points and 7 assists in the effort for Toyotsu FE. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Kanazawa Sam. maintains second position with 12-9 record behind leader Akita NH, which they share with Hiroshima D. Toyotsu FE at the other side still keeps top place with eight games lost. Kanazawa Sam.'s next round opponent will be Yamagata (#4) on the road. Toyotsu FE will play against Kumamoto V. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
