Regular Season Round 16: Hitachi SR - Chiba Jets 72-105

Another exciting game was played in Tokyo between third ranked Chiba Jets and their biggest opponent Hitachi Sunrockers where Chiba Jets (15-6) crushed Hitachi Sunrockers (14-7) on the road with 33-point difference 105-72. It ended at the same time the ten-game winning streak of Hitachi Sunrockers. It was a key game for the second position in the league. They outrebounded Hitachi Sunrockers 43-27 including 28 on the defensive glass. Chiba Jets players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Gavin Edwards (206-88, college: Connecticut) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points and 14 rebounds. The former international point guard Yuki Togashi (170-93) contributed with 17 points and 6 assists for the winners. Four Chiba Jets players scored in double figures. Chiba Jets' coach Atsushi Ono felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. International point guard Leo Vendrame (183-93) replied with 21 points and 6 rebounds and Canadian center Robert Sacre (213-89, college: Gonzaga) added 14 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Hitachi Sunrockers. Chiba Jets moved-up to second place. Hitachi Sunrockers at the other side dropped to the third position with seven games lost. Chiba Jets will play against Toshiba Thunders (#4) in Kanagawa in the next round. Hitachi Sunrockers will play on the road against Osaka Evessa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
