Regular Season Round 13: Cecina - Moncalieri 74-72

No shocking result in a game when tenth ranked Cecina (6-7) edged at home 15th ranked Moncalieri (2-11) 74-72 on Sunday. However just two-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. It was a great shooting night for Cecina especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. Naturalized Senegalese Samuel Gaye-Serigne (198-96) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and power forward Leonardo Salvadori (198-93, agency: Players Group) chipped in 14 points. At the losing side power forward Fabio Delvecchio (194-94) responded with 18 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Daniele Merletto (175-93) scored 14 points and 4 assists. Moncalieri's coach Marco Spanu rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Cecina moved-up to eighth place in B, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Moncalieri keeps the fifteenth position with 11 games lost. Cecina will face league's leader Omegna on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Moncalieri will play against USE Basket (#7) and hope to win that game.
